Scope Of Human Resource Management
Scope of Human Resource Management
Human resources are without a doubt the most important resources in any firm, as well as the easiest and most challenging to manage! HRM's goals include everything from determining manpower requirements to managing and retaining that workforce.
Human resource management is in charge of the successful creation and execution of numerous policies, processes, and programs in this regard. It is all about,
- Acquiring,
- Managing information,
- Skills,
- Creativity,
- Aptitude,
- Talent,
- Utilizing the best.
Human Resource Management encompasses more than just managing and maximizing human intelligence. It also focuses on managing employees' physical and emotional capital. The scope of HRM is expanding with each passing day, owing to the complexities involved.
HR planning, hiring (recruitment and selection), training and development, payroll administration, rewards and recognitions, industrial relations, grievance handling, legal processes, and so on are all covered. In other words, it's about cultivating and managing happy working relationships while finding a balance between corporate and individual objectives.
Human resource management has a broad and far-reaching scope. Therefore, it is very difficult to define it concisely. However, we may classify the same under the following heads:
· Human Resource Management in Personnel Management
This is typically direct manpower management, which includes,
- Manpower planning,
- Hiring (recruitment and selection),
- Training and development,
- Induction and orientation,
- Transfer,
- Promotion,
- Compensation,
- Layoffs,
- Retrenchments,
- Employee productivity.
The main goal is to determine individual growth, development, and effectiveness, all of which contribute to organizational development indirectly. Performance evaluation, the development of new skills, pay distribution, incentives, allowances, travel rules and procedures, and other associated courses of action are all included.

· HRM in Employee Welfare
This area of HRM is concerned with the working conditions and facilities available at the workplace. This encompasses a wide range of tasks and services, including
- Public safety,
- Health care,
- Welfare money,
- Social security,
- Medical care.
It also covers the appointment of safety officers, creating a pleasant working environment, eliminating workplace hazards, top management support, job safety, machinery safeguarding, cleanliness, proper ventilation and lighting, sanitation, medical care, sickness benefits, personal injury benefits, maternity benefits, unemployment benefits, and family benefits. It also has to do with monitoring, employee counseling, creating healthy working relationships, and education and training. Employee wellbeing entails identifying and meeting employees' true needs with active engagement from both management and employees.
· Industrial Relations HRM
Because this is such a delicate issue, it necessitates careful contact with labor or employee unions, addressing their concerns, and efficiently resolving conflicts in order to preserve peace and harmony inside the firm.
Understanding employment (union-management) relations, collaborative consultation, disciplinary processes, reciprocal attempts to solve issues, understanding human behavior and preserving work relations, collective bargaining, and dispute resolution are all part of this art and science.
The major goal is to protect employees' interests by ensuring the highest degree of knowledge possible without having a negative influence on the firm. It is about establishing, growing, and promoting industrial democracy to safeguard the interests of both employees and management (Youjoomla.com, 2018).
